Ribs or Fish? If you’re hungry for crabcakes reminiscent of the Chesapeake Bay, Bare Bones Grill & Brewery will satisfy your wildest dreams. With choices of indoor or outdoor/waterfront dining, you can order crabcakes full of fresh Jumbo-Lump crabmeat, seasoned and broiled to perfection. “No filler – no foolin”!, and in no time, you’ll be reliving memories of old waterfront eastern-seaboard seafood restaurants.
But – wait! Bare Bones is not a seafood restaurant. That’s right! Although the crabcakes are legendary, the succulent fall-off-the-bones Baby-Back Ribs are the true backbone of the menu. Bare Bones does so with ease. I learned that their sauce is a private recipe prepared only for Bare Bones by a company in New Orleans.
Why is this so important? Because this must be the best barbeque sauce I ever had. The extra bonus is the thickness of the sauce; it sticks to the ribs like a couple on honeymoon. You don’t have to ask for extra sauce (I normally do).
“Betcha can’t eat one” is not just a snappy catch-phrase. Consuming a full rack (smaller portions are available) of tender marinated & grilled ribs is quite a daunting task. And trying to decide which of the mouth-watering side-dishes to order – such as Baked Sweet Butter Beans or creamy house-made cole slaw – is a wonderful problem to have.
Other “stars” of the all-day menu include Hand-cut USDA Choice Steaks, Maryland Cream of Crab Soup and Cajun Gumbo, slow-cooked Prime Rib, and fresh regional seafood dishes.
Stuart’s premier water-front restaurant features daily Happy Hour from 11 AM until 6 PM, and live entertainment on select evenings.
The restaurant sits on a waterway in the Manatee Pocket so diners get to enjoy what Florida is truly blessed with – lots of water. With its deep-water dockage, Bare Bones can accommodate large vessels as well as small ones for those who have discovered the great time an evening on the boat can provide. Climate controlled seating is available both indoor and outdoor. Come by car or boat! The atmosphere is casual, but the food is not!
